Sergeant Dennis Smith of No.5 AFPU landed by glider on the 17th September 1944 at the start of Operation Market Garden, the airborne operation to capture the bridge over the Rhine at Arnhem. Smith joined the men of 'C' Company 1st Battalion Border Regiment, dug in along the Van Lennepweg at Oosterbeek (cover). He also photographed the company commander Major William Neill.
