DAVID DOUGLAS DUNCAN          LIFE September 18th 1950- This Is War

On September 4th 1950 David Douglas Duncan joined the men of Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment as they fought to push the North koreans back over the Naktong river. Baker company come under attack and fought a desperate defence of the ridge. Corporal Hayworth cries tears of frustration when he is told there are no more grenades or ammunition for his MG. Duncan spent 36 hours with Baker company who clung on to the ridge without any air support due to the weather conditions. Eventually the enemy broke off their counter attack and Baker Company were able to evacuate their wounded.
