James Jarche                        Illustrated 1942 - 97th Bomb Group - 8th Air Force        

James Jarche documents the men of the 97th Bomb Group at their base in Grafton Underwood.
The 97th, were the first 8th Air Force heavy bombardment group to go operational, when they bombed Rouen on the 17th August 1942. This created much media attention, they were also documented for Life magazine by Margaret Bourke White.
Jarche, was a veteran English press photgrapher. His career achievements included, sleeping over night in a field near Dover, to capture Louis Bleriot's arrival after his English Channel crossing in 1909.
