James Jarche documents the work of the men and women of the London Auxilary Ambulance Service at the height of the London Blitz.
The ambulance station featured was No.42, it's home being requisitioned garages at the Adelphi in Savoy Place.
The cover features a Jarche portrait of a female ambulance driver. All were volunteers and undertook the dangerous job after completeing their daytime occupations.
