Haywood Magee                       The Last Hour In A Lancaster 1943

Haywood Magee documents the pre-flight checks of the crew of 'M for Mother', Lancaster ED802 of 207 Squadron based at RAF Langer in Nottinghamshire.
The cover features the wireless operator F/Sgt. John Hyde.  Magee captured the tension of the last minutes before the take-off in the faces of the young crew. The real dangers facing them on their missions over Germany was very apparant to Magee, who had served in the Royal Flying Corps during WW1. Two of the seven-man crew were killed before the war ended.
