ROBERT CAPA
 Picture Post "A Photographer's Story", June 1954

Capa landed on Easy Red, Omaha Beach with the men of the 16th Infantry Regiment of the US Arny 1st Division. After the infamous drying-cabinet incident, only 11 0f the 108 original frames were salvagable. Life Magazine reproduced 10 of the 11.
The sodler in the surf, photographed by Capa, has recently (Times 29/9/07) been positively identified as PFC Huston Riley of F Company, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Hugh Riley, now 86, whilst wounded recalled how Capa pulled him ashore.
