Zoltan Glass The Home Guard Can Fight Picture Post 21st September 1940
Zoltan Glass documents the Home Guard Training School at Osterley Park in London. The school was partly funded with money by Picture Post owner, Edward Hulton.
Tom Wintringham, a regular contributor to Picture Post, had stressed the importance of adopting unconventional methods of warfare, based on his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. As Director of Training, he ensured the Home Guard trainees were taught all aspects of guerilla warfare. Roland Penrose, the surrealist painter, taught the principles of camouflage.
